Bannockburn Live 2014

Bannockburn Live was a two day event for all, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2014  commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn and celebrating the best of Scottish traditional and contemporary music, food and drink and more and we were involved.

We were  amazed by the extraordinary skill and determination of battle that will be on show in the electrifying performances of the Battle of Bannockburn. Sean participated in 5 out of 6 battles performances  taking place on the battlefield  with hundreds of re-enactors from across Europe. The display was choreographed by Clanranald, who are famous for their work on Hollywood blockbusters Gladiator, Robin Hood and Thor II.

Throughout the weekend Sean and I  experienced life in 14th century Scotland at the interactive medieval encampments. We relived the sights and sounds of the time - the clang from a blacksmith’s forging hammer and anvil, aromas of fresh kiln-fired bread, the roar of a battle commander ordering his troops. With over 10,000 people coming each day the atmosphere was tremendous and Sean had the time of his life.
