FHE About the sacrament

We've done it again I'm really proud at how hard everyone is working we have had another cooperative family home evening this time on the Sacrament presented to us by all three of the children (they are still a little camera shy) however thats another faith in god for Hanna & Adam and a personal progress for Ruth.  Well Done everyone!

Another new goldfish

Unfortunately we lost Princess so we present to you Angel Honey Hanna's new Goldfish.

Prophet Duvet finally finished

After 3 years I have finally finished 16 portraits of latter day Prophets (President Monson is on the pillowcase)  this originaly started out as a wall hanging however by the time I finished the only way to go was a duvet, hopefully my son will treasure it and even take it with him on his mission 10 years from now.

Busy getting ready for Christmas

Adam and Hanna have become quite a dab hand at helping out making things for Christmas here they are making salt dough ornaments which we shall be painting up and giving away at Christmas on our sharing tree.

Salt Dough Recipe
Ingredients: 1 cup plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water

Directions: In a large bowl, Mix table salt and flour together, gradually add up to 1/2 a cup of water to the desired consistency. Knead the dough on a flat surface, adding a few more drops of water if needed (but not making it to moist)
Once the dough is made you can divide it up into smaller portions to roll into 1/8" thick pieces with a rolling pin. Use Cookie cutters to cut into a variety of shapes and place shapes on wax paper or other surface. If you want to make hanging ornaments remember to pierce a hole through with a toothpick while it is still wet.
Allow the shapes to dry for a day or two, turning them over periodically to speed up the drying process. After the shapes dry you may use a fine sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges.
Baking alternative:- Instead of allowing the dough to dry in the air you can bake them in an oven at 200 F until hard. Baking times varies between thickness and ovens make sure dough is completely baked. You can cover with tin foil if shapes take on to much colour during baking process.

Painting the dried out dough shapes

Halloween Disco for Hanna & Adam

We really struggled this year for Hanna to find a costume that was girly and not horrible as Hanna would say (Yet was not made by mum - She thinks she's to old for that) and all we could really find was a Gothic Bride ... where did all the good costumes go........

Adam on the other hand was easy to please - take one box, a roll of tin foil, roll of grey tape, 1 tube of glow in the dark necklaces and 2 plastic bottles and vio la one evil transformer complete with wings and super jets.

then off to the disco they go.... needless to say Adam was the bell of the ball although he did have a little trouble dancing Oooops.

Winterfying the Garden Done

Only a few leeks and winter cabbage to go

Yellow sunshine house

Its getting done Its finally getting done my lovely bright cheerful and distinctly us yellow is finally being put onto the wall (only 4 months late) but its done with only a few additional extras.

Pioneer Upside Down Doll

Actually this doll was made out of fabric rosettes, a pair of pink socks and 1/2 meter or so of fabric floral and the same with coordinating block colour yellow wool and brown wool and 2 pair of googly eyes. Its an upside down doll so the above pictures are actually of the same doll.
You can pick up similar patterns on the Internet or just make up a normal doll and added a pioneer doll story (below) which personalises it a little I think.
To get the curly hair I wrapped the wool round a metal knitting needle and sat it in a hot oven for a few minutes allowed to cool and then unwrapped ( becareful not to leave in the oven to long as this can change the colour of the wool)
This doll is held together with thin elastic so is quite fragile therefore its a better gift for an older girl who might sit it on her bed.
